Mattel Hotwheels, why are these little cars so Popular?
Why are Hot Wheels Cars the coolest? Fo me its the quality of models of every day cars and the different unique types of designs.
My favorite Hotwheels casting is The “63″ Chevy Split window Corvette.

I was 18 yrs. old when Mattel introduced Hotwheels to the world. It would be few more years before I started to notice Hotwheels.
As I grew older I started going to garage sales, and yard sales, in which many of the sellers had baskets or boxex full of old Mattel Hot Wheels, I don’t know why, I started buying a few here and there, and then I found my self buying boxes full, If I found a yard sale that had a box full of Hotwheels and or Matchbox cars I would try and buy the whole box. If we couldn’t agree on a price for the whole box then I would just pick out the ones that I wanted and go on.
Then I started going to K-Mart and Walmart, I think the first new Hotwheels I bought was on the blue card, “I still have all of those cars still in the package”. Then in 1995 when Mattel started theHotwheels first edition series, things really got out of hand, I was going to to K-mart and Walmart almost daily looking for all of the Hotwheels first edition series cars.
I collected The Mattel Hotwheels First Edition series up to 2004 and then kinda slacked off buying Hotwheels, by then there were several Dealers here in Wichita, and it seems that they had the inside scoop on when K-Mart and Wal mart stocked sleves and the cars started getting harded to find.
I kinda stop buying all of the series cars and just focused on the cars that I liked.
I would always buy any variation of the Chevy Corvette, and any of the 60’s and 70’s castings.

My wife, she even got in the game and started collecting any and all of the Hotwheels pickup trucks. she has about 150 Hotwheels trucks with very few of the same one’s.

We still collect today, but we only buy what WE THINK IS COOL,mostly the casting of the 60′ and 70’s muscle cars. HotWheels rock
